Hasidim are leaving Ukraine en masse: what is the situation at the border
According to glavcom.ua: According to the State Border Service, after Rosh Hashanah, the passenger flow at the border with Moldova and Poland has increased, leading to longer queues.
State of the queues at the border as of 14:00:
- Moldova: 'Palanka-Mayaky-Udobne' - 80 vehicles, 'Starokozache' - 40 vehicles, 'Mogilyov-Podilskyi' - 70 vehicles, 'Bronnitsa' - 60 vehicles.
Poland:
- 'Krakivets' - 100 vehicles, 'Shehyni' - 120 vehicles (increase in pedestrians), 'Hrushev' - 40 vehicles, 'Ugryniv' - 20 vehicles, 'Rava-Ruska' - 20 vehicles, 'Nyzhankovychy' - 25 vehicles, 'Smilnytsia' - no queues.
Border guards are taking additional measures to speed up processing. It is recommended to carefully choose the checkpoints and prefer those that are less crowded.
It is also worth noting that in Uman on September 22, a mass prayer Tikkun HaKlali took place, with more than 10,000 Hasidim participating, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
The local authorities have strengthened security measures during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, which lasted from September 22 to 24, 2025.
In the period after the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, there is a significant passenger flow at the border with Moldova and Poland, leading to queues at the border crossings. Border guards are making additional efforts for quick processing of passengers; however, it is recommended to choose less crowded checkpoints for convenience and efficiency. There was also a mass prayer in Uman before the Jewish New Year, with thousands of Hasidim participating, and the city authorities increased security measures during these celebrations.
