PrivatBank Extends Validity of Expired Cards for Ukrainian Clients
Payment Card Service Extension Announced by PrivatBank
According to ХВИЛЯ: PrivatBank has announced it will continue to service payment cards for its clients even after their official expiration date, provided the cards expired during the period of martial law. According to the bank's press service, these expired cards will remain functional for domestic use within Ukraine but may not work for transactions abroad. For clients who wish to replace their expired card, a reissue service is available within Ukraine for a flat fee of 80 hryvnias (including VAT) for all card types. This policy is part of the bank's efforts to maintain financial access for its customers during a period of significant disruption.
Permitted Uses for Expired Cards
Customers holding cards past their expiration date can still perform a range of essential financial operations. Specifically, they are able to:
- Pay for goods and services in stores and online within Ukraine;
- Withdraw cash from ATMs, self-service terminals, and bank tellers;
- Utilize the Privat24 mobile app and web version for fund transfers and account management.
There are, however, specific circumstances that necessitate an immediate card replacement. Mandatory reissue is required if there is suspicion of fraudulent activity or data compromise, in cases of card loss or physical damage, or following a change in the cardholder's personal information. For clients outside Ukraine, international card delivery is available to more than 60 countries worldwide, facilitating access to new cards even from abroad.
Through these measures, PrivatBank aims to provide its clients with continued access to payment card services while also offering clear pathways for reissuance when needed.
This initiative by PrivatBank is crucial under martial law conditions, as many Ukrainians face difficulties accessing essential financial services.
