Public Transport Fare in Lviv for 30 UAH: When to Expect
The Lviv city authorities have begun reviewing fares for public transport. If the proposed changes are supported after public consultations, the fare for buses, trams, and trolleybuses will increase for all categories of passengers. The most expensive will be cash payments, which could reach 30 hryvnias per trip. This is reported by UNIAN.
Transportation in Lviv: What Fares Are Proposed to Increase
The city council reported that carriers submitted calculations requesting a review of the current fares. After analyzing the documents, officials agreed that the current fare is no longer in line with the carriers' expenses.
At the same time, the city administration emphasizes that they do not support the level of fares proposed by businesses. According to transport companies' calculations, one trip should cost more than 40 hryvnias.
Instead, a compromise project has been prepared. It envisages the following tariffs:
-
for students with a 'LeoCart' card – 11.5 UAH instead of 8.5 UAH;
-
payment via app or 'LeoCart' – 23 UAH instead of 17 UAH;
-
by credit card – 26 UAH instead of 20 UAH;
-
in cash – 30 UAH instead of 25 UAH.
Subscriptions and Fines May Also Increase
Along with single tickets, they propose to raise the cost of travel subscriptions. The student subscription for all types of transport may rise from 450 to 575 hryvnias.
The general monthly subscription for passengers is planned to increase from 900 to 1150 hryvnias. The fine for traveling without a ticket will also be reviewed, with the amount possibly increasing from 400 to 520 hryvnias.
Why Lviv Is Revising Fares
City council officials explain the need for an increase due to rising costs for carriers. The previous fare review occurred in 2025 when fuel was about 48 hryvnias per liter.
Currently, according to the city administration, the price of fuel exceeds 90 hryvnias per liter. This has significantly affected the cost of transportation and has become one of the main arguments for revising the fare policy.
So far, the new prices have not been finally approved. Before a decision is made, the project must undergo public consultations, after which it will be reviewed by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.
