Parliament supported the extension of electric vehicle benefits: what will happen to imports

The Ukrainian parliament supported the extension of benefits for the import of electric vehicles. According to 'Hvylya', this initiative belongs to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. His amendment No. 1061 received support from 248 MPs, which will allow Ukrainians to continue bringing in electric cars under preferential conditions for another year - until 2027. The final decision on this issue is still in doubt until the Cabinet of Ministers presents the final version of the document in November.Chairman of the Financial Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Danilo Hetmantsev, stated that the benefit for 2026 will not be extended due to non-compliance with the legislation. He emphasized that changes allowing the import of electric vehicles without customs duties cannot be adopted before the second reading. Thus, Ukrainians may have the opportunity to continue importing electric cars for another two years without paying duties. It is worth noting that in the near future, these vehicles may become much more expensive for Ukrainian consumers.
