The Rada is set to continue martial law and mobilization
The Verkhovna Rada will consider extending martial law and general mobilization for another three months next week. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, who noted that the vote is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21. RBC-Ukraine writes about this.
Until what date will martial law and mobilization be extended in October 2025?
As the parliamentarian clarified, President Volodymyr Zelensky will submit the relevant draft laws to parliament on Monday, October 20. After that, they will be reviewed by the profile committee and then approved by the MPs. The documents will be signed by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and the head of state.
If the decision is supported, martial law and mobilization will be in effect from November 5, 2025, to early February 2026. Thus, this will be the 17th extension of these regimes since the beginning of the full-scale war.
Who is subject to mobilization in Ukraine?
According to current legislation, within the mobilization, the following are subject:
-
men aged 25 to 60 who have passed the medical commission;
-
women with medical education can be mobilized voluntarily;
-
new accounting rules have been implemented in military enlistment offices following the legislative updates in 2024.
Let us remind you that martial law and general mobilization were first introduced on February 24, 2022, immediately after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. In April 2024, parliament adopted a law that lowered the conscription age to 25 years and canceled the category of «limited fit».
According to government representatives, the continuation of these regimes is necessary to ensure the country's defense capability and the stable functioning of security forces. It is expected that the new extension period will cover the winter season when the risks of attacks and enemy activity traditionally increase.
Earlier, Deputy Head of the President's Office of Ukraine, former commander of the 93rd brigade Pavlo Palisa, stated that even in the event of a ceasefire, mobilization in the country will not be stopped.
