Russia launched a fake story about the deportation of Ukrainians from Portugal: CPD refutation

Ukrainians in Portugal: a new fake from Russia
Фейкові заяви Росії про виселення українців з Португалії: спростування від ЦПД

Rumors about the deportation of Ukrainians from Portugal turned out to be lies that no apparatus has confirmed. Rumors spread online that 'the Portuguese are expelling Ukrainians' from the country. However, it turned out to be yet another example of Russian propaganda, as reported by the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.

Russian media began disseminating fake news that in Portugal 'laws would be annulled' and '60 thousand Ukrainians would be deported.' However, the facts show that no deportation, especially of Ukrainians, is occurring in Portugal.

Reaction of Portugal and the Center for Counteracting Disinformation

The agency for integration, migration, and asylum (AIMA) of Portugal has begun checking approximately 65 thousand conditional residence permits issued back in 2022. This process was initiated at the request of the European Commission, to confirm the compliance of documents.

Representatives of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation noted that this is yet another information attack from Russia aimed at sowing negative attitudes towards Ukraine. They also emphasized that the fabrications about deportation are attempts to sow panic among Ukrainian refugees.

Ukrainians can safely hold onto their passports since Portugal is not seeking to expel them from the country. This is just another example of fake information that creates a negative atmosphere around Ukrainians seeking asylum in European countries.
