A Russian military transport aircraft Il-76 with registration RA-78765 has arrived in the capital of Venezuela, Caracas. It is reported that this arrival is related to a request from President Nicolas Maduro for military assistance, as well as an attempt by Russia to increase its military influence in the Caribbean region.
The airline Aviacon Zitotrans, which is under sanctions from the USA, Canada, and Ukraine, operated this flight. It is known that this company had connections with Russian military structures and supplied equipment to regions where Russian mercenaries operated.
Venezuela's Appeal to Its Partners
Amid increased US activity in the Caribbean region, Venezuela has turned to Moscow, Beijing, and Tehran for military support. The country is requesting the supply of equipment, missile systems, aircraft modernization, and funding.
