Heating Supply Problems in Russian Regions

According to glavcom.ua: Russian regions are preparing for winter with serious difficulties in heating supply, despite government claims of a 'stable start' to the heating season. Worn-out heating networks and insufficient funding for municipal infrastructure threaten heating supply to millions of households. This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service.

The average wear level of heating networks in Russia is 40%, with some regions exceeding 80%. Investments in municipal infrastructure are virtually absent, and rate increases do not lead to improved service quality.

“In summer, entire cities were left without water supply, and in winter, dozens of regions are at risk of not receiving heat,” the report states.
  • In the village of Vysokogornoye in the Khabarovsk region, the heating season was disrupted due to a boiler house that burned down in February.
  • In Tomsk, officials reported connecting nearly all houses, but on the city's social media, there are confirmations of 'threads of complaints' from freezing residents.
  • In Omsk, authorities announced '100% connection' back in October, but residents continue to complain about the lack of heat.
  • In Birobidzhan, local authorities blamed residents for their own freezing due to not bleeding the air from radiators and not letting utility workers in.

Heating Network Problems in Russia

Russia faces old heating supply problems - old pipes, financial difficulties, and the irresponsibility of officials. But this time, the costs may be felt not only by officials but also by ordinary citizens.

The statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, reminds that international sanctions against Russia can be a useful tool in stopping the war, but for a successful outcome, many aspects need to be considered.
