Indictment Filed Against Boris Korchevnikov

According to Главком: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has completed its pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court targeting Russian propagandist Boris Korchevnikov. He faces charges under three articles of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, including for backing Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

Korchevnikov, formerly an actor on the TV series 'Cadets,' now heads the pro-Kremlin channel 'Spas' and hosts media projects for the aggressor state. Investigators found that he repeatedly traveled to temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine and actively took part in Kremlin propaganda campaigns supporting Russian-backed occupation authorities. During broadcasts, he justified the occupiers’ war crimes against Ukrainian civilians and called for the seizure of the country.

Charges and International Accountability

Korchevnikov is charged under several provisions of the Criminal Code:

  • Article 110, Part 2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability)
  • Article 436-2, Part 3 (justification of Russia’s armed aggression via mass media)
  • Article 332-2, Part 2 (illegal crossing of Ukraine’s state border)

The accused is currently in Russia and evading prosecution.

“Since the accused is on Russian territory and evading justice, steps are being taken to bring him to criminal responsibility.” - SBU

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by SBU officers under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Last year, the SBU already notified Korchevnikov of suspicion.

This case is part of Ukraine’s broader effort to hold accountable individuals who support Russia’s aggression. The SBU is actively identifying and documenting the actions of those who spread propaganda, justify armed aggression, or engage in activities that threaten national security. Prosecuting such individuals, even when they are outside Ukraine, could play a key role in international legal proceedings related to war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the conflict.

In addition to the ongoing legal actions against propagandists like Boris Korchevnikov, the Ukrainian Security Service has been actively targeting individuals who pose a threat to national security. Recently, three Russian agents were apprehended for inciting missile strikes on Kyiv, highlighting the SBU's commitment to countering aggression.
