Ukrainian Drone Strike in Crimea Destroys Russian Air Defenses and Iranian Spy Drone
SBU Drone Operation Targets Crimea
According to Главком: In a nighttime operation on Friday, drones from Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck Russian military targets in occupied Crimea. The attack, carried out by the SBU's 'Alpha' Special Operations Center, hit the Yevpatoria Aviation Repair Plant and positions near the Dzhankoi airfield.
This operation is part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to degrade Russian military infrastructure used to launch attacks against its territory. The strikes damaged production workshops at the plant, along with equipment and personnel positions. Preliminary reports indicate the following targets were destroyed or damaged:
- Two 'Pantsir-S2' anti-aircraft missile systems
- One 'Mohajer-6' reconnaissance drone on the airfield
- One ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun mounted on a vehicle
- Two fuel tankers
- One 'Forpost' unmanned aerial vehicle ground control station
The systematic special operations by the SBU in Crimea are aimed at destroying the military infrastructure Russia uses for attacks on Ukraine.
"We are purposefully eliminating the enemy's air defense systems, drones, and equipment to weaken its ability to protect its bases and strike Ukrainian cities. The enemy will not feel safe-especially on the territory of Ukrainian Crimea," an informed SBU source stated.
Continuation of SBU Activity in the Region
This strike follows other recent Ukrainian actions. Just earlier, on the night of March 2, the SBU and Defense Forces damaged the Russian frigate 'Admiral Essen' in the port of Novorossiysk. Attacks on these key infrastructure targets underscore Ukraine's intent to reduce threats from Russia and defend its territories.
The operation highlights Ukraine's strategy of actively countering the Russian military presence in Crimea, which is a critical aspect of the nation's security and territorial integrity. Strikes on strategic objects can significantly impact Russia's ability to conduct military operations and may shift the balance of power in the region. Ukraine continues to demonstrate a readiness for proactive measures, which could influence the future course of the conflict.
