Anatolii Yevdokymenko Receives Birthday Wishes from Sophia Rotaru
According to Главком: Ukrainian singing legend Sophia Rotaru marked her grandson Anatolii Yevdokymenko's birthday on March 23rd, when he turned 32. The singer posted a story on social media to congratulate him, sharing a photo of Anatolii alongside the English message 'Happy Birthday'. Rotaru, a major cultural icon across Eastern Europe, remains a beloved figure with a career spanning decades.
The Career of Anatolii Yevdokymenko
Anatolii Yevdokymenko, who performs as a techno DJ under the name SHMN, is currently pursuing his career abroad. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he and his father Ruslan Yevdokymenko were detained by border guards while attempting to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border by boat near Mohyliv-Podilskyi. Anatolii later surfaced in Europe and now resides in the United Kingdom.
Reflecting on this new chapter in his life, Anatolii stated:
“With the start of the war, I was forced to leave the country to begin a new life. For more than six months now, I have been living the life of a true nomad, which has taught me a lot and given me a new perspective on life.”
He added:
“This year has undoubtedly been the most difficult year of my life, but also the most transformative, I must say. Moreover, it has been a truly devastating and tragic year for the entire Ukrainian people. My condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones in the heat of this war.”
Sophia Rotaru, who is also active on social media, was last seen on Instagram on August 7th of last year celebrating her 78th birthday, where she shared recent photos taken in central Kyiv.
Rotaru's public birthday message to her grandson underscores the enduring strength of family bonds during turbulent times. Anatolii's comments about transformation and his new outlook highlight the profound personal changes wrought by the war in Ukraine, a experience shared by many Ukrainians who have been displaced and are building new lives abroad.
