In the temporarily occupied Sievierodonetsk, the cost of public transport varies sharply from prices in Ukraine-controlled cities: a ticket costs 40 rubles, and a discounted ticket — 20 rubles. This was reported by Chas Pik.

Photos of a ticket from a route operating in the city have been shown online, which effectively demonstrate — rides for locals have become financially burdensome. Daily transportation expenses can reach a significant amount even for those who travel only to work or study.

Travel prices: how the situation changes

According to the source, the high cost of travel in the TOT may be linked to several factors: a shortage of drivers, a lack of transport, and a fuel deficit. Against this background, prices in Ukrainian cities appear significantly lower. For example:

  • in Kyiv, public transport costs 15 UAH;

  • in Lviv — 15 UAH in trams and trolleys;

  • in Dnipro — 15 UAH;

  • in Vinnytsia — 10 UAH;

  • in Chernivtsi — 10 UAH.

Compared to occupied Sievierodonetsk, where the cost of travel exceeds 17 UAH per trip, Ukrainian tariffs appear more balanced. There is also no clear list of categories entitled to benefits in the TOT, creating additional uncertainty for passengers.

Why travel in the TOT is more expensive

According to local sources, public transport works irregularly in the occupied territory, some routes are shortened, and the technical state of vehicles is deteriorating due to a lack of repair facilities and spare parts. These conditions push the occupation administration to raise tariffs. In Ukraine-controlled regions, prices are set by local councils, taking into account the costs of carriers, competition, availability of public transport, and economic indicators of cities.

Previously, we reported that persons with disabilities have the right to use public transport for free. This particularly applies to persons with disabilities, children with special needs, and one accompanying person.
