Care for the disabled is counted towards the work experience: who received millions
The head of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, Yevhen Kapinus, explained that periods of care for people with disabilities are counted in the insurance experience of able-bodied unemployed persons in accordance with the law 'On mandatory state pension insurance.'
'This is provided for by the law of Ukraine, which allows the inclusion of periods of care, including for a child with a disability, a seriously ill person, etc., in the insurance experience of able-bodied unemployed persons,' Kapinus noted.
Conditions for caring for disabled individuals are considered in a person's insurance experience through their insured status during this period. Currently, more than 12,000 unemployed able-bodied persons caring for first-group disabled individuals receive social support.
Pension benefits for disabled military personnel are provided in the event of loss of ability to work during service or shortly after discharge. The amount of payments depends on the reasons for disability and the group. Individuals without the right to a regular pension, including people with disabilities, may be entitled to state social assistance in case of low income.
Additionally, the deadline for physical identification for beneficiaries, including persons with disabilities, has been extended to November 1, 2025. This procedure is mandatory for maintaining the right to receive state payments, especially for those living in temporarily occupied territories.
The Ukrainian Pension Fund accounts for periods of care for disabled individuals in the insurance experience of citizens who are unemployed, ensuring their social protection. Additional information on pensions and assistance for people with disabilities, as well as the extension of the identification period for beneficiaries, is aimed at improving the living conditions of this category of citizens.
