As of July 15, new fares for public transport came into effect in Kyiv. A single journey in the metro, buses, trolleybuses, and trams now costs 30 UAH, while in private minibuses - 25 UAH. At the same time, passengers have several options to significantly reduce their daily travel costs. According to RBK-Ukraine,

Transport in Kyiv from July 15: What Fares Are in Effect

After the fare review, a single ticket in public transport increased to 30 UAH. However, owners of transport cards can pay less if they top up their card for multiple journeys at once.

A progressive discount system is in place:

  • 1-9 journeys - 30 UAH;
  • 10-19 - 28.90 UAH;
  • 20-29 - 27.80 UAH;
  • 30-39 - 26.60 UAH;
  • 40-49 - 25.50 UAH;
  • 50 journeys - 25 UAH each.

An unlimited monthly pass for all types of public transport costs 3656 UAH.

Another innovation is expected to be launched around August 1. Passengers will have access to a transfer ticket for 60 UAH, which will allow unlimited use of the metro and surface transport for 90 minutes.

How to Save on Transport in Kyiv After the Price Increase

Despite the tariff increase, all benefits for certain categories of passengers, as defined by law, remain in place. Free or discounted travel is still available for veterans, people with disabilities, pensioners with the 'Kyiv Card', as well as schoolchildren and students.

Transport card holders can also use previously purchased trips at the old rate of 8 UAH. These will remain valid until September 14, 2026. After that, any unused trips will be automatically converted into a monetary equivalent and credited to the card balance.

At the same time as the fare increase, the fine for traveling without a ticket has also risen. It now amounts to 600 UAH, which corresponds to twenty times the cost of a single journey.

The Kyiv City State Administration explains the tariff review by the rise in costs for electricity, fuel, components, and the need to fund the operation of city transport. According to the city authorities, the economically justified fare today is significantly higher than the established tariff.

It should be noted that emergency rescue works have been completed in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv at the site of the strike on a 16-story residential building. As a result of the Russian attack on July 2, 31 people were killed, and 102 others were injured.
