Heavy rain has devastated Nepal and India, leading to widespread landslides and sudden floods. In a major tragedy, at least 47 people have lost their lives. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the situation remains extremely critical. This was reported by the publication 'Glavkom' citing Reuters.
The eastern district of Ilam, bordering India, has been the hardest hit: 35 people have died due to landslides. Another 9 individuals are considered missing after the flood, and 3 have died from lightning strikes in other parts of the country.

As a result of this severe weather, dozens of roads in Nepal have become impassable, and several bridges have been destroyed. Some people have been trapped in mountainous areas. In the capital Kathmandu, streets, houses, and shrines are flooded.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring Indian region of Darjeeling (West Bengal), at least 7 people have died due to landslides. Rescue services are actively working on site, and the search for the missing continues.
