Six-time champion of Ukraine in American football died for his homeland
According to glavcom.ua: Every day at 9 AM, Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Dmytro Serbin.
Dmytro Serbin, a well-known six-time champion of Ukraine in American football and a medical service staff sergeant, gave his life for Ukraine three years ago, on October 25, 2022, in Luhansk region.
Born on May 7, 1973, in Kyiv, Dmytro Serbin graduated from medical college No. 2, the National Medical University, and worked as a cardiologist-resuscitator. He was also a renowned athlete in the field of American football, receiving numerous awards and recognition. Dmytro had qualifications as a sports medicine physician and helped prepare athletes for the Olympic Games. However, he chose the path of a fighter, joining the National Guard of Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, receiving the call sign Magic doc, and ultimately lost his life in a combat zone.
The memory of the hero is honored throughout Ukraine, and the authors of the documentary project NFL 360 paid attention to Ukrainian American football players who became defenders of the country. Dmytro Serbin was posthumously awarded the Order of «For Courage» III class.
The Commander-in-Chief joins the moment of silence and honors the memory of all those who died in the war against the Russian invaders, expressing respect for those who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Ukraine.
Dmytro Serbin is a person who combined medicine and sports, a high professional in his field, and a hero who gave his life for his homeland. His act is honored and remembered as one of the many examples of courage and selflessness in Ukrainian history. Ukraine will not forget its true heroes.
