Vlada Ulyanovskaya announced the disconnection of the internet until the end of the war: details

Mobile internet is isolated in the Russian Federation
Влада Ульяновська повідомила про відключення інтернету до завершення бойових дій: подробиці ситуації.

According to hvylya.net: The authorities of Ulyanovsk region made an ultra-unusual decision. They decided to disconnect mobile internet until Ukraine stops the war. This is a rare case where regional authorities in Russia linked access to the internet with military actions.

According to The Moscow Times, the Minister of Digital Development of Ulyanovsk region explained that this decision was made at the request of the federal center for national security and local authorities cannot cancel it. This means that residents are falling into information isolation for an undetermined period.

Reasons for the restriction and its consequences

In explaining such steps, officials indicated the expansion of the 'security zone' around strategic facilities. However, according to the minister, not only special objects are affected, but also homes, institutions, and offices.

Previously, the internet was shut down in more than 50 regions during drone attacks as a temporary measure. Now such restrictions have become permanent. Local residents are advised to use only the 'white list' of allowed services, including government-controlled resources (for example, 'Gosuslugi', 'Yandex', 'VKontakte', Wildberries), as well as public Wi-Fi points. These steps are aimed at protecting facilities and controlling the information space, isolating citizens from alternative viewpoints.

The Ulyanovsk region decided to disconnect mobile internet while the war with Ukraine continues. This decisive measure is a reaction to the growing threat to infrastructure security and attempts to control the information space in the region.
