Trump wins: Congress approved the budget bill by a narrow margin
The U.S. House of Representatives voted on President Trump's bill on Thursday with a score of 218-214, according to Axios.
Only two Republicans - Thomas Massie and Brian Fitzpatrick - joined all Democrats in voting against it. This allowed Trump to sign the document before the July 4 deadline.
This bill preserves the tax benefits introduced by Trump in 2017, eliminates taxation on tips and overtime, and makes changes to the Medicaid system related to employment conditions. The document increases the maximum federal debt by $5 trillion, allocates $175 billion for border security, and $150 billion for defense. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill will result in a national debt increase of $3.3 trillion over 10 years and will lead to approximately 12 million Americans losing health insurance due to changes in Medicaid.
As a result of the vote, Trump's bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives, paving the way for further consideration and possible signing by the president before the July 4 deadline.
