According to Главком: A ski coach in Tatarstan was detained in late December 2025 on suspicion of abusing a 14-year-old athlete. The incident occurred during a trip to Bugulma with coaches from the FST 'Snow Leopard' organization. The victim reported the situation to her coach, O.G. Korobova, which triggered a subsequent investigation. This case highlights ongoing concerns about athlete safety in youth sports programs.

The suspect in the case is coach Marat N. from Zelenodolsk sports school No. 4. After the girl reported the abuse, the coach allegedly offered her father money to settle the matter privately. However, this did not stop the investigation, and the coach was detained. An investigation is currently ongoing.

Reaction to the Incident

As a result of the incident, the victim decided to leave the sports section, underscoring the severity of the situation. In a separate note, Russian speed skater Aleksandra Sayutina was present at Vladimir Putin's annual address to the Federal Assembly on February 29, 2024. Veronika Stepanova published a photo on Instagram of Sayutina's participation in this event. The International Skating Union (ISU) has recognized Sayutina as a neutral athlete.
