Automatic One-Time Cash Assistance for Independence Day

According to ХВИЛЯ: Starting in 2026, Ukraine is expanding the list of groups eligible for automatic one-time cash payments tied to Independence Day. According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), retirees, along with recipients of housing subsidies and utility discounts who are not on active duty, will receive the funds in August alongside their regular monthly payment. This group does not need to submit a separate request to the PFU.

Veterans currently serving in the military will have the money transferred to the accounts of their respective military units, institutions, or organizations. It is essential that employers have records confirming an individual’s veteran status to process the payment. Other eligible individuals who are not pensioners, do not receive subsidies or benefits, and are not in service must file an application with their local PFU office.

How to Apply to the PFU

The PFU application must include details from identity documents, a bank account number, a taxpayer identification code (RNOKPP), and information from the certificate granting eligibility for the payment. Copies of a passport and the status certificate should be attached. Those who acquire eligible status before August 24 can apply for the payment if the funds have not arrived by October 1. The deadline for receiving assistance for such individuals is November 1.

Applications can be submitted in three ways:

• in person at a PFU service center or a Citizen Service Center (TsNAP),
• by mail,
• online through the PFU web portal for electronic services, using a qualified electronic signature.

These changes are designed to simplify the process of receiving aid for the specified population groups.
