78-year-old Ukrainian woman from Donetsk streams games and plays online shooters
Lyudmila Kulakoviy is a 78-year-old gamer
Lyudmila Kulakoviy is 78 years old and she is a gamer. She plays online shooters, streams, and dreams of saving up for a new computer. Her old one, like almost all her belongings, was left in Bilozerske, Donetsk region, from where she was evacuated by the Ukrainian military. Currently, she lives in Dnipro at the social adaptation center for people with disabilities 'Ocean of Good'. As reported by 'Gromadske', this is mentioned in the plot of 'Public'.
17 years ago, Lyudmila recalls, she got into computer games. Her grandson taught her.
«I don’t just play Counter-Strike; I play all computer games. I especially like our Ukrainian Metro Exodus. I always have about five or six games open. They are very good for my nervous system, especially at my age», - says Lyudmila.
«Many people don’t believe it, they say: «Granny, it must be madness. Her hands should be shaking». But my hands never shake. They are normal. I don’t have dementia, I don’t have Alzheimer’s. I react to everything realistically. Yes, of course, it’s upsetting that they don’t believe me. But I say: I will outlive you. I will still be playing with your grandchildren».
Recording videos while playing
Later, she says, she started recording videos while playing.
«Every game has its own tactics. I come up with it myself, I calculate where I can shoot, where I can’t, where it’s better to remain silent. Many people do it wrong, throw a flashbang. That gives them away», - says Lyudmila.
Currently, Lyudmila lives at the social adaptation center for people with disabilities 'Ocean of Good'. Clothes are all she managed to take from home.
«For about eight days, I probably didn’t eat anything. But I no longer had a desire to eat. And there was nowhere to get anything. Everything was closed, everything was broken. I was really scared by the CAB, and when I found myself next to the white bus, and this young soldier lifted me onto the bus... It was awful. And these are the only people who saved me. I will remember this for life», - shares Lyudmila.
Dreams of a new computer and video games
On September 1, Lyudmila celebrated her 78th birthday and says she dreams of a new computer and returning to the world of video games.
It should be noted that Brendan Caldwell, a reviewer for the video game site Eurogamer, says that the design of the Ukrainian game Stalker 2 contained «glimpses of Ukrainian nationalism» as it showed a matchbox with the colors of the Ukrainian flag and a poppy field as graves for fallen soldiers. He wrote this in his review.
Caldwell reminds that the game was created during the Russian-Ukrainian war and that some of its developers have died.
Additionally, a new, unusual localization based on the Galician dialect appeared in the popular game Minecraft, which already draws attention with its unique names.
Lyudmila Kulakoviy is an unusual 78-year-old gamer living in a social adaptation center in Dnipro. Her story became known thanks to the video plot of 'Public'. Lyudmila actively plays computer games, dreams of a new computer, and is confident that her gaming skills will soon impress her fans.
