UK may seize valuables from illegal migrants: details
The United Kingdom is considering the possibility of seizing valuables from illegal migrants
According to glavcom.ua: The United Kingdom is contemplating the introduction of new, stricter rules for illegal migrants. One option is the potential seizure of valuables and other belongings from them to cover maintenance costs. This was reported by the Financial Times based on information from a representative of the Home Office.
These measures are aimed at forcing migrants who can afford it to self-sustain their living. The Home Office representative explained that it is necessary for those who have money to bear their share of the costs. The Deputy Head of the Home Office emphasized that personal or family valuables, such as wedding rings, will remain outside this initiative, however, 'if someone arrives here with a suitcase of gold rings, the situation may turn in a different direction.'
Additional measures in UK migration policy
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is expected to adopt new rules soon due to the rising number of illegal migrants who are becoming a financial burden on taxpayers. It is anticipated that the waiting time for refugees to obtain permanent status may increase to 20 years.
Norris considers it unacceptable that a migrant receives £800 (about $1,053) a month and 'buys an Audi for themselves.'
Mahmood emphasized that the government must strengthen immigration policy to stop illegal migration that 'is breaking the country apart.' It is also worth noting that around 2,000 people participated in a protest against plans to house 600 refugees in a military camp in Crowborough.
The UK government is actively considering new measures in migration policy, including the potential seizure of valuables from illegal migrants to cover their maintenance costs. It is also considering increasing the waiting time for refugees to obtain permanent status. All of this is done to combat the rising illegal migration, which is becoming a significant financial burden for the country and threatens social stability.
