Veterans will receive compensation for car insurance: how to apply through Diia

According to their data, the technical development of the service in the 'Diia' application is currently underway, which will allow users to apply for compensation online. Users will be informed about the launch after the work is completed.

War veterans will be able to get back the money paid for the mandatory civil liability insurance (OSCPV) policy. The process of implementing such a service has already started, specialists from the 'Legal Advisor for IDPs' reported.

Who will receive compensation

Combatants and people with disabilities caused by the war will be eligible for reimbursement. Compensation is provided for only one vehicle personally owned by the veteran.

Requirements for recipients:

• the policyholder must be of legal age;

• the contract with the insurance company was concluded no earlier than January 1, 2025, and no later than December 31 of the year following the end of martial law;

• the insurance is valid only within Ukraine;

• the engine displacement does not exceed 2500 cm³ or the electric motor power is up to 100 kW;

• the vehicle is not used for commercial purposes.

Applications for compensation can be submitted until the last day of the insurance contract's validity.

How to apply for reimbursement and when to expect payments

To submit an application, you will need a passport or a foreign passport, identification code, electronic certificate of vehicle registration, and a valid OSCPV policy.

The procedure will take place through the 'Veteran Pro' section in the 'Diia' mobile application. The user will need to log in, select the appropriate vehicle, apply for compensation, and open a 'Diia Card' account if they do not have one yet.

The 'Legal Advisor for IDPs' notes that the program can be used again only one year after receiving the previous compensation if the veteran caused an accident.

Funds will be transferred gradually - in the order of applications submitted and only if budget financing is available.

Combatants and people with disabilities caused by the war are entitled to compensation for the insurance policy.
