Shooting in Dnipro: Local Man Opens Fire on Military Recruitment Teams, Two Wounded
Incident in Dnipro
According to Главком: On May 4, a shooting occurred in Dnipro during military notification operations. A local resident fired shots at a recruitment team, injuring two members of the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. The Dnipro city police reported:
“According to preliminary information, the incident took place during notification activities. A local resident fired shots in the direction of the notification group.”
This attack is part of a broader pattern of violence against military recruitment personnel in Ukraine. Since February 24, 2022, there have been 620 documented attacks on representatives of territorial recruitment centers. The highest numbers of attacks have occurred in:
- Kharkiv region - 69 attacks
- Kyiv - 53 attacks
- Dnipropetrovsk region - 45 attacks
Authorities are still investigating all reported cases and determining the legal classification of each event. In addition, in the Chernivtsi region, a 29-year-old local resident has been charged with attempted premeditated murder of military personnel and hooliganism. In Kropyvnytskyi, during a check of military registration documents, a driver struck a military recruitment officer with his vehicle while trying to flee the scene.
These events highlight rising tensions and aggression toward military recruitment staff in Ukraine, set against the backdrop of ongoing war and social instability. As violence against service members and recruitment officials continues to be recorded across the country, it is critical for law enforcement to ensure their safety and implement measures to prevent future incidents.
