Fare in trams in Kamyanskyi will increase from June 1
Residents of Kamyanskyi are anticipating an increase in fare for municipal trams. The relevant decision was made by the executive committee of the city council on May 27. The new tariffs will come into effect from June 1. The city authorities explain this by the rising costs of electricity, fuel, and the wages of transport sector employees. This information is reported by MIS.
The cost of tram rides in Kamyanskyi will rise from June 1
From the beginning of summer, passengers will have to pay more for both single rides and passes.
The new tariffs will be:
- Single ticket — 10 UAH instead of 8 UAH
- Monthly pass — 360 UAH instead of 288 UAH
Thus, the increase will be 25% compared to the current tariffs.
Why is the fare in Kamyanskyi increasing
The previous tariff has been in effect since March 2025. During this time, the main costs of the transport enterprise have significantly increased.
Among the key reasons for the price revision are:
- The cost of electricity has increased by 34% — from 9.68 UAH to 13 UAH per kWh
- Fuel prices have risen by almost one and a half times — from 52.8 UAH to 86.9 UAH per liter
- The minimum wage has increased from 8,000 UAH to 8,647 UAH
The city council states that these factors have significantly affected the cost of transportation.
The enterprise lacks funds for repairs and maintenance
An additional challenge for the municipal carrier remains the regular power outages, which affect the operation of the transport system.
Due to a lack of funding, the enterprise is limited in conducting planned repairs, modernizing equipment, and maintaining rolling stock.
The authorities emphasize that the tariff revision is a necessary step to maintain the stable operation of the tram network and ensure the transportation of residents.
Note that in Ternopil, preparations are underway for another tariff review for public transport. Carriers have submitted calculations indicating that the cost of a single trip may rise to 26–32 UAH, but the city council is currently considering a compromise option with lower tariffs.
