On May 7 in Lviv, a public discussion of new transport fare rates will take place. The city authorities propose to raise the ticket prices for buses, trams, and trolleybuses due to a sharp increase in fuel prices and transportation costs. This is reported by Lviv City Council.

Travel costs in Lviv may rise as early as May 2026

According to the draft decision, the cash payment for travel will increase the most. It is proposed to raise it from 25 to 30 UAH. Payment by bank card may rise to 26 UAH, and through LeoCart or the app – to 23 UAH.

For students, the fare for a trip with LeoCart may increase from 8.5 to 11.5 UAH. The city also plans to review the cost of subscriptions:

  1. Student fare – 575 UAH instead of 450 UAH.

  2. General fare – 1150 UAH instead of 900 UAH.

  3. Fine for traveling without a ticket – 520 UAH instead of 400 UAH.

The discussion of tariffs will take place at the First Lviv Media Library on Mulyarska Street. Registration is required to participate. Residents can submit proposals and comments until May 9.

Fuel prices have become the main reason for tariff review

The city hall explains that transporters asked to revise the tariffs back in early March due to the sharp rise in diesel fuel prices. If in 2025 a liter of diesel cost about 48 UAH, now the price exceeds 90 UAH.

Relevant departments have checked the economic calculations of transportation companies and agreed that the tariffs need updating. At the same time, the city council states that they do not support the price suggested by transporters of more than 40 UAH per trip.

After public consultations, the final decision on tariffs should be made by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.

Lviv public transport continues to be updated

The city council emphasizes that transporters must not only receive new tariffs but also continue updating their vehicles. Over the past year and at the beginning of 2026, more than 130 large low-floor buses have hit the routes.

Currently, about 400 accessible transport units are running in Lviv, with over 78% of the rolling stock adapted for passengers with limited mobility. At the same time, more than 30 categories of privileged passengers, including combat veterans and people with disabilities, can use public transport for free.
