The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine implements new accessibility standards: what will change for citizens
According to МЗС: At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a meeting of the Council on Human Rights, Gender Equality, and Diversity took place. The event was dedicated to the topic 'Best Global Practices of Accessibility in Diplomatic Service' and gathered participants from various fields, including the President's Commissioner for Accessibility in Ukraine, Tetyana Lomakina, representatives of government authorities, embassies of foreign countries, international organizations, and civil society representatives.
Welcoming the participants, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maryana Betza emphasized the importance of accessibility as a necessary component in the diplomatic service and a criterion of the state's democratic nature. She noted that this issue concerns not only infrastructure but also respect for human rights, accessibility of public services, and the accountability of the diplomatic service to all citizens.
The Role of Accessibility in the Diplomatic Service
During the meeting, participants discussed the importance of universal design, digital accessibility, and adherence to international standards in the work of government institutions. Maryana Betza emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is actively implementing the principles of accessibility and inclusion in its activities, in accordance with the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine by 2030.
This meeting opened new opportunities for improving the accessibility of public services for all citizens of Ukraine and highlighted the importance of developing democratic values through inclusive practices in the diplomatic sphere.
