The number of balcony power plants is increasing in Germany
Balcony power plant installations in Germany are becoming increasingly popular
In the first half of the year, residents of Germany installed at least 220,000 mini-solar systems - so-called balcony power plants. According to experts' estimates, the actual number may reach half a million, as many devices are still not registered. This is reported by the Federal Network Agency of Germany, as cited by 'Glavkom' referring to Deutsche Welle.
According to the German Solar Industry Association, the growth rate of installations can be compared to last year's. Demand remains high because they have become easier to register, and the equipment has become cheaper.
Popularity of solar installations in different regions of Germany
The highest absolute number of installations has been recorded in the most populous federal states - North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. However, when recalculated per number of households, Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate lead - here, there are almost 34 and 31 installations per 1000 households, respectively. For comparison, in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria, this figure is about 23-24 installations per 1000 households.
It was previously reported that German scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute propose a revolutionary solution for storing renewable energy - giant concrete spheres submerged at the bottom of the ocean.
By the way, a Swiss company launched the world’s first mobile solar power plant with a capacity of 18 kW on a railway track.
The popularity of balcony power plants in Germany continues to grow, indicating a strong interest among the country's residents in using solar energy. The development of this sector could have a significant impact on the overall energy security of the country and help reduce CO2 emissions.
