The Rada proposes to allow men under 24 to travel abroad: details of the draft law
A draft law No. 13685 registered in the Verkhovna Rada stipulates that men under 24 will be able to leave the country if they are not subject to mobilization. These changes concern young citizens who are not reservists, conscripts, or military service personnel.
'It is clearly stated that mobilization occurs from the age of 25. Everyone who does not fall into this category will have the right to travel abroad without hindrance. Those who belong to other groups defined by law also retain the right to cross the border,' explained MP Oleksandr Fedienko.
Currently, existing legislation restricts travel abroad for men aged 18 to 60, except for certain exceptions. The new draft law aims to address issues faced by young men aged 18-25 who work or study abroad and encounter difficulties returning to Ukraine.
The authors of the initiative believe that existing restrictions unfairly complicate the lives of the younger generation and negatively affect the work or study of people in this age range. The adoption of the law may alleviate their situation and resolve conflicting issues regarding leaving and returning to the country.
