Physical Violence in the Family: How to Recognize and Where to Turn
The Problem of Physical Violence
As part of the international campaign '16 Days Against Violence', we remind you of the challenges in overcoming various forms of domestic violence. Almost every fourth administrative offense related to domestic violence concerns physical violence.
A characteristic feature of physical violence is the possibility of attempts to justify it through 'family matters', 'quarrels', 'emotional influence' or 'provocation by the victim'. However, none of these explanations can justify violence.
'Slaps, punches, beatings, leaving in danger – this is physical violence. Do not seek excuses, just act. Do not stay silent, but call 102 or 112,' urge the campaign participants.
During the campaign, attention is also drawn to other forms of violence: cruel treatment of children, combating human trafficking, and protecting women's rights.
Participation in international campaigns and constant attention to the problem of violence can help reduce the number of such human rights violations and improve the situation in this area.
