Vinnytsia Welcomes a New Mental Wellness Hub

According to Главком: A new mental health center has launched in Vinnytsia as part of Ukraine's nationwide 'Povernennia' (Return) network. Founded by Victor and Olena Pinchuk, the facility will offer free psychological care to over 4,000 service members, veterans, and their families annually. This initiative aims to address the mental health challenges faced by Ukraine's defenders and their loved ones due to the psychological toll of Russia's ongoing war.

Services and Features Available

The Vinnytsia mental wellness center provides both individual and group support sessions. Licensed professionals can also prescribe medication when needed. The facility underwent a complete renovation funded by the project, ensuring a barrier-free, inclusive environment. Key amenities include:

  • Specialist consultation rooms
  • A group therapy room
  • A reception area with a waiting zone
  • A day hospital unit
  • A treatment room
  • Inclusive restrooms
  • A pottery workshop

The center is equipped with modern tools such as computers, multimedia systems, a Shiftwave System, VR goggles, art and pottery supplies, psychological games, anti-stress and tactile aids, plus professional literature. The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, a medical psychologist, a clinical psychologist, nurses, and a medical registrar.

Care is provided free of charge, either on an outpatient basis or at the patient's home. Specialists address a range of psychological issues, including stress reactions, anxiety and depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), adjustment and psychosomatic difficulties, and psychotic conditions. Currently, 15 'Povernennia' centers operate across Ukraine in cities such as Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Lutsk, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Uzhhorod, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv.

The project's first phase plans to open 25 centers nationwide, capable of assisting over 100,000 military personnel, veterans, and their family members each year. Victor Pinchuk highlighted the need for shifting societal attitudes:

'Our society's culture and traditions still carry a stigma: 'How can I go to a psychiatrist?'. Seeking help from mental health professionals is not a weakness, but a crucial step toward recovery' – Inga Tyshkul.

The launch of this Vinnytsia mental health center marks a significant step in supporting the psychological well-being of military members and their families across Ukraine, especially amid the prolonged conflict. The expanding 'Povernennia' network reflects the growing demand for professional psychological support. Such initiatives can help break down mental health stereotypes and encourage more people to seek help during difficult times.

As the mental wellness movement expands across Ukraine, the recent inauguration of a center in Vinnytsia complements similar initiatives, such as the one recently established in Odesa. These facilities are crucial for providing vital support to military personnel and their families. To learn more about the Odesa center and its offerings, visit this article.
