In his statement on May 13, Zelenskyy underscored the importance of a united stance to halt Russian aggression, which poses a threat not only to Ukraine but also to neighboring European countries.
Military Operations and International Talks
Between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM on May 13, Russian forces launched a massive aerial assault using 753 attack drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and Parody decoy models. The primary focus of the assault was Ukraine’s western regions. Ukrainian defense forces managed to shoot down or neutralize 710 enemy drones.
Separately, Zelenskyy held talks with Romanian President Nicusor Dan at the Bucharest Nine summit, where the two leaders discussed technological cooperation and the Drone Deal format. They also addressed Ukraine’s European integration efforts.
As Zelenskyy noted, 'the important message of condemnation of Russia’s attack against Ukraine from Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar' carries significant weight in maintaining unity against the aggressor.
The situation in Ukraine remains tense due to ongoing Russian military strikes, which not only threaten the country’s territorial integrity but also raise alarms across the entire region. The importance of international support, particularly from neighboring nations, highlights the need for a consolidated effort to counter aggression and ensure security in Europe. Discussions on technological collaboration and European integration at the leadership level reaffirm Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening its international ties during this critical period.
As the situation escalates, the response from the EU is crucial in reinforcing support for Ukraine. Recently, the European Union allocated €90 billion to assist Ukraine, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in countering Russian aggression. This financial backing coincides with Hungary's strong stance against the recent attacks, emphasizing the need for a united front in these challenging times.
