Ukraine Receives 300 Generators for Critical Social Services: Cities Allocated Aid
SECI Initiative Delivers Generators
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: A shipment of 300 generators, with a total capacity of 1,650 kW and valued at over €417,000, has been delivered to Ukraine from the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI). This delivery, intended for social institutions across several cities, follows agreements between Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territories Development and SECI. This support is crucial for maintaining essential services amid ongoing challenges to the nation's energy infrastructure.
Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Artem Rybchenko and SECI Executive Coordinator Michael Fazekas oversaw the handover. The generators will be distributed to the following cities:
- Kyiv (100 units)
- Odesa (50 units)
- Sumy (50 units)
- Kherson (40 units)
- Mykolaiv (50 units)
- Lviv (10 units)
The equipment will be allocated to hospitals, maternity wards, kindergartens, schools, and other vital social service providers.
Significance of the Assistance
Artem Rybchenko emphasized the critical nature of this aid, stating:
"It is extremely important today to enhance distributed generation and build up reserves of backup power sources. We are directing these generators to communities to help them ensure the stable operation of heating and water supply facilities. I am sincerely grateful to our partners for their constant and consistent support of Ukraine and their contribution to our resilience."
The Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI) is a multilateral regional initiative comprising 29 member states, originally established by the United States and the European Union in 1996.
This delivery of generators represents a significant step in strengthening Ukraine's energy security, particularly for social institutions that provide life-sustaining services. The aid will ensure the continuity of operations at hospitals, schools, and other facilities during potential power disruptions, a pressing concern given the current circumstances in the country.
