High-Level Talks in Berlin Between Ukrainian and German Officials
According to Мін. Економіки: Berlin is hosting bilateral discussions between Ukraine and Germany focused on advancing climate policy, launching an emissions trading system, and preserving biodiversity. The Ukrainian delegation is led by Deputy Minister Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi, while Germany is represented by Heike Henn, Director General for International Climate Policy at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUKN).
The two sides reviewed the outcomes of completed projects and outlined priorities for the next phase of cooperation. Key topics addressed during the talks included:
- Launching training programs in climate policy, with a focus on CBAM and ETS;
- Finalizing the development of the legal framework;
- Building IT infrastructure for the national emissions trading system;
- Expanding projects under the International Climate Initiative (IKI) to support Ukraine’s EU integration and economic modernization.
