Ukrainian Drone Teams Deployed to the Middle East
According to Главком: Ukraine has dispatched three teams of drone specialists to the Middle East. The first nations to receive these experts are Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Ukraine has provided direct assistance to the United States in Jordan, sending interceptor drones and a team of specialists to help protect American military bases there. The U.S. request for aid came on a Thursday, and the Ukrainian team departed the very next day.
The initial group of Ukrainian military and drone experts left for Gulf nations on Monday, March 9. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine responded to the U.S. request immediately:
“I said: yes, of course, we will send our experts.”
According to reports, several such groups will be deployed. This move highlights how Ukraine's battlefield experience has created a highly sought-after expertise in counter-drone warfare.
Ukraine Expands Its Drone Market Presence
President Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine is prepared to sell its surplus interceptor drones, stating, “The volume that our forces do not use, we are ready to sell. It is, in principle, quite large. Three countries are definitely ready to buy.” This signals Ukraine's intent to actively expand its presence in the regional drone market, which could have significant implications for international defense cooperation.
This initiative underscores Ukraine's growing role on the international stage in the realm of security and defense technology. Cooperation with Middle Eastern nations and the United States could strengthen Ukraine's geopolitical position while providing additional financial resources from the sale of military technology. Participants in the international defense market may now view Ukraine as a key partner in drone production and application, which could, in turn, foster further innovation in this critical field.
