Ukraine approves a nature conservation plan until 2035: 23 key objectives

According to Мін. Економіки: A public discussion is underway on the draft Biodiversity Conservation Strategy of Ukraine until 2035. On December 10, 2025, the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine published this important document, which contains 23 objectives aimed at the protection of natural resources and biodiversity of the country.

The Strategy was developed by the relevant department of the Ministry with the active participation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine. The project is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), highlighting international interest in preserving the natural ecosystems of Ukraine. Proposals and comments on the draft can be sent to the email address [email protected] within 30 days from the date of publication, providing an opportunity for broad public engagement in shaping future nature conservation policies.

This project is an important step towards ensuring ecological sustainability and preserving biodiversity in Ukraine, as well as demonstrating the country’s commitment to global environmental standards.

Objectives of the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy

The approval of the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy until 2035 is part of Ukraine’s efforts to integrate into global environmental policy.
