The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, announced plans to increase the number of mobile backup power stations to maintain stable communication during potential blackouts. This initiative was adopted after discussions at the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander, where issues related to Russian attacks on energy facilities and the need to ensure reliable communication during power outages were deliberated.

We discussed priorities for protection and specific areas of cooperation with partners to strengthen the air defense system. One of the important steps is to increase the number of mobile emergency power stations.

Umerov also noted that backup energy sources will be redistributed with a focus on frontline areas. The head of the Ukrainian regulator of electronic communications, radio frequencies, and postal services, Liliya Malen, emphasized that base stations will not be able to operate without electricity during prolonged outages. She stressed that mobile communication in such situations should be viewed as a temporary solution.

Increasing the number of mobile emergency power stations in Ukraine will be an important step in ensuring reliable and stable communication during potential blackouts, especially given the escalation of the situation in the east of the country.
