Ukrainians in Poland May Lose the Right to Free Healthcare: Key Reasons
If you are laid off without registering with the employment service, your health insurance continues for only one month after losing your job.
During unpaid leave or when you stop paying insurance contributions, a 30-day coverage period is also maintained.
After completing your studies or being expelled from an educational institution, the right to medical assistance remains for six months.
Ukrainian citizens with UKR status have the opportunity to receive free medical assistance in Poland through the National Health Fund (NFZ).
If a person has no insurance coverage (not employed, not studying, not registered with the employment service, not making voluntary contributions, and not a family member of an insured person), all medical services must be paid out of pocket.
Options for Restoring Health Insurance:
- Register as unemployed at the employment office - insurance is restored automatically
- Ask your working husband/wife to include you in their family insurance
- Independently arrange for voluntary health insurance through ZUS
