Men's Biathlon Mass Start Results at the Olympic Games
According to Главком: Norwegian biathlete Johannes Dale-Skjevdal won the men's 15km mass start event at the Anterselva, Italy Olympics, securing his first career Olympic medal. He completed the course in 39 minutes and 17.1 seconds without missing a single shot across all four shooting stages. The mass start is one of biathlon's most unpredictable events, where the top 30 athletes from the World Cup start together.
For Ukraine, Vitalii Mandzin delivered a strong start, hitting all 10 targets in his first shooting bouts. However, he subsequently recorded five misses, finishing in 10th place, 2 minutes and 30.7 seconds behind the winner. Dmytro Pidruchnyi, who found himself in the second group early on, avoided misses on his second shooting stage but also tallied five total errors, concluding the race in 17th position, 3 minutes and 14.6 seconds off the lead.
The Podium and Outlook for Ukrainian Biathletes
Joining Dale-Skjevdal on the podium were his compatriot Sturla Holm Laegreid in second place and French athlete Quentin Fillon Maillet in third. The Ukrainian athletes demonstrated they could compete at a high level in this elite field, even though they did not reach the medal positions.
