Vladyslav Semerych Joins University of Detroit Mercy Men's Basketball

According to Главком: Ukrainian forward Vladyslav Semerych has officially signed with the University of Detroit Mercy Men's basketball team, a program competing in the NCAA Division I. The 21-year-old player will wear jersey number 15 as he continues his career. Last season, the Detroit squad posted a 17-15 record in the Horizon League, finishing third in the regular season. The team also advanced to the conference playoff finals, though their last appearance in March Madness dates back to 2012.

Prior to joining the University of Detroit Mercy, Semerych played for Indian Hills Community College in Iowa. Over the course of 29 games this season, he averaged 5.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.

Ukraine National Basketball Team Performance

In addition to Semerych's signing, the Ukrainian national basketball team continues its campaign in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. In the fourth round, Ukraine fell to Spain 78-64, following a 66-86 loss in the third round. However, the team bounced back with an 88-71 win over Denmark in the second round and opened the qualifiers with a 79-92 victory against Georgia.

Against Georgia, Oleksandr Kovliar led all scorers with 31 points in 37 minutes of play. Other standout performers included Oleksandr Lypovyi, who contributed 13 points, and Viacheslav Bobrov, who recorded a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Both Vladyslav Semerych and the Ukrainian national team remain actively engaged in their respective competitions, showing steady progress and new milestones. Semerych's move to an NCAA Division I program highlights his ongoing development in professional sports, which could strengthen his prospects for future national team selection.
