Ukrainian Officials Trained on Veteran Support Integration
Training Session Focuses on Veteran Reintegration
According to Мін. Економіки: A training event aimed at helping Ukrainian veterans transition back into civilian life and professional careers was held at Ukraine's Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture. Organized by the Public Union Reform Support Fund in Ukraine under the STEP IN 2 EU international cooperation program, the session centered on fostering veteran-friendly workplaces to ensure successful integration of former military personnel into civil society.
Program Funding and Partners
The STEP IN 2 EU program receives financial backing from the governments of Germany and Norway, along with the European Union through the EU4Business initiative. Implementation is supported by the German federal company Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This partnership aims to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Economy in the context of Ukraine's European integration efforts.
During the event, participants discussed the importance of viewing former service members as professionals with valuable expertise.
As Ihor Bezkaravainyi stated: 'I strongly hope we begin to see former military personnel first and foremost as professionals who also happen to be veterans. Most of those defending the country today are ordinary people with extraordinary experience, and that experience is vital for public service, business, and society as a whole.'
The training marked a significant step toward supporting veterans in unlocking their potential across new fields. Creating a welcoming environment for veterans in the workplace is essential to helping them adapt to civilian life.
This initiative highlights the importance of veteran support during integration into civilian society-a particularly pressing issue given the current challenges facing Ukraine. The involvement of international partners like Germany and Norway underscores the value of joint efforts in building an inclusive society where military experience can drive state and business development.
