The Cabinet has put the Odessa Portside Plant up for sale for 4.5 billion UAH

Sale of Ukraine's chemical complex
Уряд оголосив про продаж стратегічного об'єкта в Одесі за 4,5 мільярда гривень.

Today, August 26, the government made a decision to privatize the Odessa Portside Plant. The state-owned stake will be put up for open electronic auction with a starting price of 4.5 billion UAH. This was reported by 'Glavkom', citing Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Condition and Prospects of OPZ

OPZ is one of the largest chemical complexes in Ukraine. Before the war, it produced ammonia and carbamide, exporting fertilizers. However, since 2022, the main production has been halted. The plant operated partially, providing critical needs with oxygen and nitrogen and performing the functions of a port hub.

The enterprise needs to restore full operation, which is only possible through attracting a private owner and investments. The sale of OPZ will help fill the budget, create new jobs, and provide Ukrainian agrarians with access to domestic fertilizers.

The Government of Ukraine has decided to privatize the Odessa Portside Plant, putting its shares up for auction with a starting price of 4.5 billion UAH. OPZ, which once produced ammonia and carbamide, now needs to resume operations and could become an important player in the country's chemical industry if privatized and receives investments.
