Interactive Lesson on the Human Papillomavirus

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: Approximately 120 students from Irpin Lyceum No. 1 took part in an interactive session focused on the human papillomavirus (HPV). Family doctor Maryna Pavlovska led the class, offering a thorough explanation of the virus's characteristics, how it spreads, and prevention strategies-including vaccination.

The Role of Vaccination and Why It Matters

Under Ukraine's national immunization schedule, girls aged 12 to 13 are eligible for a free 9-valent HPV vaccine. Getting vaccinated before becoming sexually active provides the strongest protection and can help prevent cervical cancer as well as other types of cancer. In addition, blogger Dasha Kvitkova shared her own experience with the HPV vaccine, highlighting how personal stories can influence decisions about immunization.

The lesson materials on HPV vaccination and general immunization were developed with input from experts at Ukraine's Ministry of Health, the Public Health Center, and UNICEF. These resources are available to anyone. The event was part of a joint public awareness campaign aimed at educating the population on the importance of vaccines and overall health.

Taking care of yourself is a sign of maturity!

This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost vaccination awareness-a particularly timely topic given global disease prevention priorities. Engaging young people in conversations about immunization can significantly shape how they view their own health and preventive care in the years ahead.

As the importance of vaccination becomes increasingly recognized, it's crucial to note that the HPV vaccine is now available for free for girls aged 12 to 13 in Ukraine. This initiative not only enhances awareness among young people but also ensures they have access to preventive measures that can significantly reduce their risk of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
