Sumy Help Center Supported Over 22 Thousand Ukrainians: How It Works
According to hvylya.net: In Sumy, the transit center for short-term stays received over 18 thousand evacuees, while the Resilience Center supported nearly 4.5 thousand Ukrainians. Spaces that have already provided assistance to thousands of people were visited by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, and the Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine, Denys Ulyutin.
Assistance at the Transit Center and Resilience Center
According to the Ministry of Social Policy, the transit center of the NGO 'Pluritone' can accommodate up to 250 people at the same time. Here, the 'single window' principle operates: people receive IDP certificates, register for evacuation trains, arrange for monetary assistance, and use medical and psychological support. A safe space equipped with activities and art therapy is created for children.
The Resilience Center, operating on the basis of the NGO 'Merzhyvo' since May 2024, has become a support place for veterans, IDPs, families with children, elderly people, and military families. The team consists of psychologists, social workers, and a social manager. Since the beginning of 2025, over 6 thousand services have been provided here.
'Sumy region today is a stronghold that withstands the impact of war. For us, it is essential that people have the opportunity to receive everything necessary - from temporary shelter to free psychosocial support in Resilience Centers,' said Denys Ulyutin.
In Sumy, there are transit centers for short-term stays and Resilience Centers that provide assistance to thousands of evacuees and vulnerable categories of citizens. These institutions not only provide temporary support but also offer the opportunity to receive necessary services and consultations in the difficult conditions of war.
