Carrots have sharply increased in price in Ukraine: reasons for the sharp rise in prices
According to hvylya.net: Carrot prices in Ukraine have suddenly jumped. They remained stable at the beginning of autumn, but over the past week experts have recorded a 12% price increase. Farmers are selling carrots for 7-13 hryvnias per kilogram, depending on quality and batch size.
The main reason for the price increase is the increased demand in the market. Many farms have decided to hold back sales of quality harvests for storage, hoping for further price increases. This has led to a decrease in supply in the market.
Despite the price increase, carrots cost 54% less than in the same period last year. Market participants anticipate that the price rise may be temporary, as farmers may massively release stocks into the market if prices continue to rise.
Ukrainian farmers have decided to hold back carrot sales for storage, which has led to a sharp rise in prices for the popular vegetable. This may be a temporary phenomenon, as an increase in supply could force prices to drop.
