According to УНІАН — Туризм: Travel company Saga Holidays conducted a study evaluating 80 European islands based on weather, cuisine, and natural environment. Tenerife emerged as the winner with a score of 95 out of 100. The top 10 list is dominated by islands from Spain and Croatia, highlighting their strong appeal to travelers.
The assessment used three main criteria: climate conditions, culinary opportunities, and natural landscapes. Factors included the number of sunny days, precipitation, wind levels, and comfortable temperatures, as well as the density of restaurants, cafes, and bars relative to island size. The weighting was as follows:
- Nature – 45%
- Weather – 35%
- Gastronomy – 20%
La Palma secured second place with 94 points, while Madeira, Portugal, took third with 93 points. The top five also included Croatia’s Korcula and Mljet. Here is the complete top 10 ranking of Europe’s best islands:

Gastronomy and Green Credentials
When it comes to weather, Tenerife (88/100), La Gomera (86/100), and Gran Canaria (85/100) came out on top. However, Italy led in gastronomy, with Capri scoring 75/100, followed by Sardinia (66/100) and Santorini, Greece (65/100).
In the category of greenest islands, Mljet ranked first with 86/100, ahead of Madeira (85/100) and Korcula (83/100). Notably, La Palma is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and Madeira is home to the Laurisilva laurel forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Overall, the findings show that certain European islands stand out for their natural resources, favorable weather, and culinary offerings, making them highly attractive to tourists.
