VAKS decides on preventive measure for Savchenko: suspicion of vote trading in the Rada
Investigation of the High Anti-Corruption Court
According to Главком: The High Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) is considering the issue of choosing a preventive measure for MP Olha Savchenko, who is suspected of participating in vote trading in the Verkhovna Rada. This issue became relevant after the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) uncovered an organized criminal group, which, apart from Savchenko, included several other deputies from the 'Servant of the People' party.
At a closed session of VAKS, which took place on January 1, SAP prosecutor Anatoliy Rybalka presented his position on the choice of a preventive measure. He noted that there is a need to preserve the secrecy of the investigation and ensure the safety of the participants in the criminal proceedings.
'I respect that journalists came on such a day, January 1. But there is a need to preserve the secrecy of the investigation, as well as ensure the safety of the participants in the criminal proceedings,' emphasized Anatoliy Rybalka.
In addition to Olha Savchenko, suspicions of vote trading were also directed at the following MPs:
- Yevhen Pyvovarov
- Igor Negulevskyi
- Yuriy Kisiel
The situation has caused significant public outcry, as vote trading is a serious crime that undermines the foundations of the democratic process in Ukraine. The investigation continues, and VAKS's decision regarding the preventive measure will be an important stage in this criminal proceeding.
