According to glavcom.ua: Residents of a neighborhood in Washington, D.C., took to the streets to protest against the rise in police presence. This decision was made after the White House announced an increase in National Guard troops in the capital and round-the-clock patrolling by federal officers. The information was reported by the publication 'Glavkom' citing the Associated Press.

After law enforcement set up a checkpoint for vehicles along 14th Street Northwest, protesters began chanting slogans: 'Go home, fascists' and 'Get off our streets'. Some of them stood at the intersection in front of the checkpoint urging drivers to go around it.

Increase in control from the Trump administration

Protests swept the city days after President Donald Trump announced that his administration would take control of the city's policing for at least a month.

The Democratic mayor wavered between political positions, initially calling it 'authoritarian pressure', and then presenting additional police as a means to enhance public safety, although there were few concrete indicators of success.

Protests in Washington erupted after the White House's announcement of increased police presence and street patrolling by federal officers. As a result, protesters opposed such measures, calling them fascist, while also demanding that drivers navigate around the checkpoint.
