Sumy Border Guard Veteran Lands Job at State Migration Service
The Journey of Yurii Chuchuzhenko
According to Державна міграційна служба: Yurii Chuchuzhenko, a veteran who served in the fire service until 2022, decided on February 25, 2022, to report to a military enlistment office and join the defense of the country. During his time in the Rapid Response Border Command of the Sumy Border Guard Detachment, he took part in liberating the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, as well as rotations in Donetsk and Luhansk. In April 2024, Yurii left military service and began a new chapter in his life, finding a job at the Central-Southern Interregional Department of the State Migration Service.
Yurii Chuchuzhenko worked in the state fire service starting in 1996. His career began as an engineer in the fire protection unit at a chemical industry enterprise in Ukraine-the Cherkasy 'Azot' plant. He retired in 2013, but a few years later, he decided once again to defend his homeland. After becoming a serviceman, his contribution to the liberation of territories became a significant moment in the fight for Ukraine's independence.
Experience and a New Chapter
During his service, Yurii gained invaluable experience. He noted:
'War is not about loud words. It is about loss, fear, fatigue, and an experience that changes a person forever.' - Yurii Chuchuzhenko
This experience undoubtedly shaped his worldview. He also remarked that 'what sticks in memory most are not the large-scale destruction, but the small details,' describing a scene he witnessed: 'Shattered houses, mangled streets, ground littered with metal.'
After being discharged from military service, Yurii found a vacancy at the State Migration Service through the web portal 'Ministry of Internal Affairs: Your Support.' He now works in the department for registration and monitoring of residence information. This new phase in his life has become an opportunity to apply his experience in service to the state.
Yurii Chuchuzhenko continues to actively engage in society, always keeping the memory of his comrades alive. As he stated:
