Vienna: Three Days Without Heating and Hot Water at -8° Outside
Unusual Situation in Vienna
According to Главком: Vienna has witnessed an unusual situation where residents were left without heating and hot water for three days, while the temperature outside dropped to -8°. Oksana Polishchuk, a communications specialist at 'Vinnytsiaoblvodokanal', while in the city during her vacation, compared the work of public services in Europe and Ukraine. The temperature in the room dropped to +10°, causing discomfort for people.
Oksana emphasized that in Ukraine, public services are capable of restoring energy and water supply in a matter of hours or days, even during shelling. She noted that
“our energy workers/water suppliers/gas workers/heat workers may not be as well-dressed as their European colleagues, but they will never leave people without water, light, and heat”

Impact on Residents and the Importance of Public Services
This situation has raised some concerns among residents of Vienna, who are accustomed to the stability of public services. Halyna Honcharova, who moved to Germany with her family, confirms that such incidents can pose a serious challenge for people, especially in the cold season. Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, also drew attention to the importance of effective work by public services in meeting the basic needs of the population.
The Vienna situation underscores the necessity of comparing the public service systems in Ukraine and Europe, as well as the importance of their stability in adverse weather conditions.
This incident highlights how critically important it is for cities to ensure the reliability of public services, especially in extreme weather conditions. Comparing public services in Ukraine and Europe may be useful in identifying best practices and enhancing efficiency in both regions. Given climate change, the issue of the reliability of energy and water supply systems is becoming increasingly relevant for ensuring comfort and safety for city residents.
